The history of the MINUALA group began with the student years of its members. Vocalist/guitarist Dmitry Makarov and drummer Dmitry Obraztsov have known each other since the sixth grade— around 1999-2000. However, full-fledged joint music making began only in 2003. At that time, the vocalist was studying at a railway college, and the drummer became a university student. The musicians played at home and at local studios together, creating clumsy sketches of future creativity — a kind of embryo of the band, where two inexperienced musicians were just groping their way. Later, fate brought them together with Sergey Nesterov (polyvox), and the three of them began full-fledged rehearsals, gradually gaining shape and sound.  It all started with multigeneralism. The band tried to interfere with everything and everyone, so the first recordings sounded chaotic, unpredictable and sometimes very noisy. Then all this began to take on more or less understandable forms, and melodism and some kind of construction appeared in the sound.

All this could be described as the era of post, noise, garage rock.  Since about 2008, the band's sound has been getting heavier. There were flirtations with faster rhythms and heavier riffs. So, by 2010, MINUALA got close to recording and releasing the first album "Cries of Black Birds". This was followed by several tours and many local concerts. Since about 2014, the band has been mainly engaged in studio activities in search of a new sound. There was a period when the band was on the verge of disintegration and already one foot was hanging over the abyss.  They began to show the highest activity after the recording and release of the album "Why shed tears when you fall down?", which was followed by a large-scale tour of Russia. After the "covid" period, MINUALA began to discover new horizons. The sound began to take on heavier, more stringy forms, and more and more different sounds and synthesizers began to appear. In 2022, the album "A Minute to Death" was released. This ended the band's stage at the junction of hardcore, crust and other related genres. The musicians realized that they had exhausted themselves and began to look for themselves elsewhere.  In the same year, the single "Thunderstorm" was released, which marked a new stage in the group's development.  Next, a number of singles were released, which were subsequently included in the 2024 album "In Agony" , Then the band expanded the composition and sound palette. The main vocal parts were already sung by female vocals. Once again, a series of singles followed, both negative and positive events that could not but affect the band members and the sound.  Thus, MINUALA has reached the current stage, when the album "Edge of a Thousand Lakes" was released, and the line-up was fully and definitively formed.
